IWC SCHAFFHAUSEN WATCHES

IWC or, the International Watch Company was founded in 1868 in Shaffhausen by American watchmaking pioneer, Florentine Ariosto Jones. With the help of highly qualified Swiss watchmakers, modern technology and hydropower from the nearby River Rhine, Jones was able to manufacture watch movements of the highest quality. 150 years later, IWC remains committed to their heritage. Their mechanical timepieces are still handcrafted in their workshops paying meticulous attention to detail. The six watch families that IWC offer combine precision engineering with extraordinary and timeless design.

IWC, DA VINCI

Engineered Enlightenment

The Da Vinci has kept abreast of the times throughout its almost 50 year history. The appeal of these watches lies in their elegant design and exquisite complications. IWC Shaffhausen has returned to round case for the Da Vinci collection, which was so successfully established by the Da Vinci Perpetual Calendar in 1985. The slightly recessed inner circle on the dial, the striking dome-shaped crown and the circular date window at 6 o’clock all add a touch of feminine style to this three-hand timepiece.

IWC, INGENIEUR

Engineered for Speed

Since 1955, the striking design of the Ingenieur has combined rugged sportiness with an undeniably technical appeal, and continues to do so to this day. The design of the Ingenieur Automatic is a homage to the technical ingenuity of the 1950s, when engineers were the heroes of the technological age. The first Ingenieur combined the simple dial design with striking hands and the most advanced winding mechanism of the time to create a modern watch.

IWC, PILOT

Engineered for Aviators

IWC Pilot’s Watches introduced the cockpit-instrument look for classic pilot’s watches and enjoy global renown as precise timepieces with outstanding technology. The black dials of cockpit instruments with their contrasting, luminescent displays has been the inspiration for the cockpit design of classic Pilot’s Watches for decades. The dial is reduced to bare essentials, with striking luminescent hands and numerals that stand out against the matte-black background.

IWC, PORTOFINO

Engineered Elegance

For over 30 years, the classically elegant Portofino has captured the laid-back lifestyle of the Mediterranean and the very essence of understatement and good taste. The origins of the large, minimalistic case design for the Portofino can be traced back to the 1970s, when the Lepine pocket watch became the inspiration for the entire watch family. The ‘pocket-watch-style wristwatch’ was presented in 1984 with the name ‘Portofino’. Since then, this watch family, with timepieces that retain their value and above all, remain timeless, has been a permanent part of IWC’s collection.

Today, the original, clearly organised dial with its simple design remains an unrivalled style icon.
